Starting out with our curriculum.
Today for Mathematics, we started out with the first topic, counting numbers from 1 to 10. Pupils did a simple group activity and then on to do individual work from the Maths Activity Book. Here are some photos of pupils in action while doing the Group Activity.
For our English, following the Stellar Programme, pupils are introduced to the first Big Book- Mrs Wishy-Washy.
We even have special appearance from Mrs Wishy-Washy herself.*winks*
Notice the uncanny resemblance of the 2!
Apologies for not being able to take photographs of the pupils while we were having our English lesson.

Getting Started.
The timetable resumed today.
Early this morning, 1E had CME and Calligraphy class, followed by their favourite time always, recess.
After Recess, we spent some time sorting out locker issues, managed to do a simple About Me work, tagged Maths Activity Books according to group colours.
Penmanship books were collected from pupils who had brought theirs and for those who are still holding on to the Penmanship book at home, were asked to bring it to school tomorrow.
After English was time with their Art teacher, Mdm Lau Hwai Bing. She had requested that pupils are to bring these items next week:
Some Hongbao packets
stapler
string
They are going to prepare decorations for the coming festive season.
Finally, they had last two periods with Ms Low for Chinese.
Parents, please take note that pupils were given the Calendar of Events for Term 1 & 2. Do refer to this calendar for upcoming events in the school.
There's PE tomorrow, so please help to ensure that your little ones wear PE attire to school.
P/S: Just some clarification about timetable: CA refers to Calligraphy, SS is Social Studies, FTI is Form Teacher Interaction (usually Assembly or CDP lessons) and MU is music. Social Studies will be taught in Chinese Language and parents need not worry about the books as these will be given to the pupils.

Last Day of Orientation
Today marks the end of the 3-day Orientation.
We had a special Appreciation Concert - some Primary One pupils performed Piano and violin pieces and we had 2 budding dancers.
Elizabeth Ortega performed a short ballet dance today.
Timetable will resume tomorrow.
Parents please note that pupils need to wear their PE attire only when they have PE for that particular day.

5th Jan 2009- Second Day of Orientation
Today the children had a long day where they get to go on a School Tour, Dental Talk, Play games and visit the Library.
They also got some time with their buddies doing a 'special project'.
They also copied down the tentative class timetable on their school diary. It's mandatory for pupils to bring their diary to school daily so that they can take down information and homework (if there is any).
And here are the pictures of the pupils in action today.

First Day Of School at NYPS
Here are some pictures taken of Primary 1E pupils during their first day of Orientation. Apologies for the poor photo quality as pictures were taken using a handphone camera.
Early this morning, the pupils were reminded of some signals that they had learnt during ‘Orientation day’ last year.
They were also introduced to their Primary 5 buddies who would be interacting with them and helping them during recess time to reduce Mummy and Daddy's anxiety.
Their buddies taught them how to make 4-pointed stars using origami papers.
Most of the Primary Ones could not wait for their recesses.
I have collected most of the activity books and advised the pupils to put the rest of their belongings under their tables for the moment. However, some might have brought them home when Ms Low Miao Noi (their Chinese teacher) asked them to remember to bring their things during her last 2 periods. So parents, if your little ones have brought home part of their bounty, please ask them to bring those back to school on Monday and I would remind them to put their things under their table for the moment.
Last but not least, parents could you kindly prepare a yellow file(with clear plastic in front) for Music?
Have a nice weekend ahead and I look forward to meeting your child back in school on Monday!
